Old Money New York Event Design

How TJG Elevates Old Money New York Event Design Through Story, Hospitality, and Precision

Old Money New York event design has become a defining aesthetic in luxury experiences, and our recent Frenchy Bar milestone celebration for Sydney brought that timeless style to life in a modern, intimate way. At The Jenelle Group, we specialize in transforming elevated creative direction into sensory-driven, hospitality-forward environments — and this project became a masterclass in how to create a moment that feels both heirloom and high-impact.

When Sydney approached The Jenelle Group with a vision for Frenchy Bar, the intention was clear: create a gathering that felt timeless, refined, and deeply personal — a nod to the sort of understated luxury often associated with heritage Manhattan. Publications like Harper’s Bazaar have noted the resurgence of the Old Money aesthetic, emphasizing its quiet elegance, muted palettes, and intentional restraint — all ideals that aligned seamlessly with our direction for this experience.

THE PROBLEM

Translating a Nostalgic, Editorial Concept Into a Modern, Seamless Experience

Old Money New York carries a distinct visual language — sophistication without flash, luxury without spectacle. But translating that aesthetic into a modern, cohesive environment presented a thoughtful challenge:

  • How do you evoke vintage Manhattan charm without drifting into theme?
  • How do you honor the richness and history of the aesthetic while working within a contemporary venue?
  • How do you layer design details in a way that feels inherited rather than over-styled?
  • And most importantly: how do you ensure the guest experience matches the elevated design intention?

Our task was to create a space that felt intimate, editorial, and quietly elegant — the way a private Upper East Side lounge might feel if reimagined for today.

THE INSIGHT

Timeless Luxury Comes From Editing, Not Adding

A consistent truth across our experiential portfolio is that luxury lives in discretion and curation.
Old Money New York styling is rooted in intention — design that feels inherited, not assembled.

For Frenchy Bar, that meant grounding the environment in rich textures and thoughtful contrast. The use of deep red florals became a defining element of the aesthetic: bold yet classic, evocative of heritage Manhattan lounges and the quiet drama of old-world interiors. Architectural Digest has highlighted how red accents and florals have resurged as markers of timeless, high-society design — elegant, emotive, and deeply atmospheric.

Those principles guided our creative direction:

  • Refined, moody palettes with red floral moments that added depth without overwhelming
  • Vintage-inspired tabletop styling with subtle metallics and bold shades of red
  • Atmospheric lighting that softened the richness and created intimacy
  • Understated arrangements that balanced bold colour with classic restraint

The result was an environment that felt balanced, intimate, and quietly glamorous — a modern expression of Old Money New York’s timeless aesthetic..

THE TJG POV

Great Experiential Work Is Equal Parts Story & Stewardship

The Jenelle Group, production is never just décor — it’s narrative, hospitality, and emotional pacing. Our work on Frenchy Bar became a strong example of how Old Money New York Event Design can be translated into a modern, high-touch experiential moment without losing its heritage-inspired subtlety.

For Frenchy Bar, we focused on:

  • Curate, don’t clutter. Every element was placed with intention to honor the heritage aesthetic.
  • Design to be felt, not noticed. Lighting, music, texture, and scent were orchestrated to create mood, not noise.
  • Let hospitality lead. Our staffing, service choreography, and run-of-show gave the evening a sense of ease and grace.
  • Execute with luxury precision. Vendor alignment, installation timing, and operational flow were handled end-to-end so guests experienced only the magic — never the mechanics.

As Forbes highlights in their coverage of experiential trends, brands stand out when they create environments that feel personal, immersive, and emotionally resonant — a standard that sits at the heart of The Jenelle Group’s approach.
